Smart Start Partnerships

The Summa Heath Smart Start Program is supported through meaningful partnerships with community-based organizations as well as local community colleges and educational institutions. We are proud to partner with the following organizations to support individuals looking to start a career in healthcare.

Akron Urban League

The mission of the Akron Urban League is to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Summit County, particularly African Americans, by advocating and facilitating programs that are economically and educationally transformational, impacting their lives and the lives of future generations.

Aultman College

Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences is the only health care system affiliated college in northeast Ohio and has the longest-running nursing education program in northeast Ohio. The college is focused on preparing students to become successful practitioners and leaders in the health care field. Aultman College offers a variety of health care degrees at the associate’s and bachelor’s levels, the College Credit Plus program for high school students, and community education courses. Herzing University

A private, nonprofit institution, Herzing University has built a supportive community of faculty, staff and students. At Herzing, students are offered personalization and support to help them earn a degree and advance their career. They provide innovative career programs, flexible learning options, convenient scheduling for busy students with 11 campuses across 8 states, and online programs. They have a variety of academic programs to meet student needs wherever they are in life, including undergraduate, graduate and online programs.

Stark State College

Stark State College, with a service district of Stark and Summit counties, is the fourth largest of the 23 public two-year colleges in the University System of Ohio. They offer more than 230 associate degrees and certificates in business, education, engineering technologies, health and public services, information technology, liberal arts, mathematics and sciences. Stark State is committed to preparing students for career success in a competitive, sophisticated economy. Stark State students receive a high quality education at an affordable cost.
