Summa Health Rehabilitation and Therapy Services provide patients with convenient access to therapy, ranging from acute rehabilitation to wellness coaching.

Our Goals and Therapists

Our goal is to deliver comprehensive care from hospital to home that will allow patients to return to their maximum functional levels.

Our staff is accredited and licensed in the State of Ohio and undergoes annual competency training, receiving continuing education to stay current with technology and care. Many have trained in specific areas of expertise.

Types of Therapy:

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists assist patients of all ages in recovery from surgery, injury and disorders of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular system. They evaluate, assess function and manage the physical therapy treatment plan, customizing it to the individual needs of each patient with the goal of restoring maximum functional independence.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy program is designed to help patients improve their ability to independently perform tasks at home and work – cooking a meal, eating or bathing – enabling them to maximize their independence level and lead productive lives. The team evaluates and treats post-stroke and other neurological issues, as well as provides valuable services in the area of ergonomic assessments and return-to-work programs for injured workers.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy

Speech therapists provide evaluation and treatment in the areas of swallowing, language, memory and voice difficulties. Our team also assists patients who have swallowing disorders which often develop as the result of a stroke.

How to Get Started

To get started in the program, outpatient orders are initiated as a referral by your physician. After an initial evaluation, the therapist will outline a plan that includes treatment goals, therapeutic interventions and frequency/duration of care.

During subsequent treatment sessions, a licensed physical therapy assistant or certified occupational therapy assistant may also be involved with your treatment program. Our team educates patients on preventative methods, as well as the techniques necessary to manage and improve their current functional status and pain.
