General Information

What is Virtual Visit?

Summa Health’s Virtual Visit is an easy way to be treated for common conditions. It provides access to board-certified doctors through secure online health portal for many non-emergency illnesses.

What can I be treated for?

You can be diagnosed and treated for a variety of common conditions through Virtual Visit:

• Burns
• Common Female Infections
• UTI, Yeast Infection
• Cold, Sinus infection, Flu, Hay Fever, Pertussis/Whooping Cough
• EpiPen Refills
• Eye, Ear, Mouth Problems
• Canker or cold sore, Pink eye, Sti, Ear pain/Swimmers Ear, Oral mouth sores
• Flu Prevention
• Injuries/Pain
• Light Low Back Pain
• Male Pattern Baldness
• Medication to Prevent Illness or Infection
• Motion Sickness Prevention
• Quit Smoking/Tobacco
• Respiratory Infection and Allergies
• Skin and Nail Problems
• All General Skin Conditions, Acne, Athletes Foot, Diaper Rash, Fungal Skin Infections, Jock Itch, Ringworm, Shingles, Skin Irritation, Ingrown toe nail, Tick Bites

Who can use Virtual Visit?

Anyone over 18 can create an account. You can also add adult dependents and children to your account. Visits for minor children must be completed by a parent or guardian.

How do I set up my Virtual Visit account?

Setting up your account is a quick and easy process. Visit SummaHealth.org/VirtualVisit and click on Start a Visit. You will be guided through step-by-step instructions.


Hours and Timing

When is Virtual Visit available?

You can complete an online Virtual Visit at any time. Summa Health providers will respond to E-Visits between 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

How soon will I get a response?

If you complete an E-Visit for a general medical visit, Summa Health Primary Care providers will respond within one hour during operating hours. If you complete a general medical visit after hours, you will receive a response the next business day. For dermatology visits, a Summa Health Dermatologist will provide a response within 72 hours. 

How long does a Virtual Visit take?

Each Virtual Visit E-Visit takes about five minutes to complete. The total number of questions you answer will depend on your condition. 


Diagnosis and Treatment

Does Virtual Visit replace my doctor?

No, Virtual Visit does not replace your primary doctor. Virtual Visit should be used when you need immediate care for non-emergent medical issues. It is affordable, convenient alternative to urgent care and ER visits.

 

Prescriptions

Can Virtual Visit doctors write a prescription?

Yes, all Virtual Visit doctors can prescribe short-term medication for a wide range of conditions when medically appropriate. Virtual Visit doctors do not prescribe substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic and/or certain other drugs which may be harmful because of their potential abuse.

Cost and Insurance

How do I pay for the consult?

You can pay for your visit with any major credit card or health savings account (HSA):

  • General medical E-visits are $29
  • Dermatology medical E-visits are $59

*Depending on your employer or insurance, Summa Health Virtual Visit may be provided at a reduced rate. Check with your employer to see if you qualify.

Is my Virtual Visit covered by insurance?

You may submit your receipt to your insurance company, but we cannot guarantee you will be reimbursed.

Do you take Medicare?

Medicare patients are welcome to use Summa Health’s Virtual Visit; however, your Virtual Visit is not currently reimbursable.


Records and Security

Is my personal information safe?

All the information you provide is encrypted and protected. Our Terms of Service give more information on how we protect the personal information provided through our website.

Do I have access to records of my Virtual Visit(s)?

Yes. You can access your Virtual Visit records at any time through your account.

Will my provider know I've done a Virtual Visit?

If you are a Summa Health patient, your Virtual Visit records will be saved as part of your medical record. If you want to share your records with a physician outside of Summa Health, you can print or email your records, or call 330.375.3930  to have us send a copy of your Summa Health records to your provider.

What browsers do you support?

Summa Health requires you to use a modern browser to ensure your data is secure and a stellar experience. You can use any of the following browsers for your Virtual Visit: Internet Explorer 11 or newer, Chrome, or Firefox. If you don't have one of these browsers, you can download Chrome or Firefox for free.

How can I access Summa Health?

You can access Virtual Visit from any web-enabled device – smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.
