Summa Health Cancer Institute offers several different support groups, all providing an opportunity to meet and talk with others who are having similar experiences coping with cancer. Patients, survivors, family members and friends are welcome.
The purpose of the Oncology Support Group is to provide a supportive atmosphere where group members can discuss the impact that cancer is having on their lives. All patients, family members and friends who are touched by cancer are welcome to attend. With professional guidance of a social worker, members may discuss their concerns with others who are facing similar challenges.
This group meets at several locations throughout the greater Akron area. Registration is not necessary. Free parking and refreshments or a light meal is provided. There is no required commitment, please join us when you are able.

This monthly breast cancer support group provides a welcoming community of emotional support and education for women diagnosed with breast cancer at any point in their journey – including newly diagnosed individuals, those in treatment and those that have completed treatment. An oncology breast nurse navigator and licensed clinician facilitate this important resource group.

Look Good Feel Better holds group workshops that teach beauty techniques to female cancer patients to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. This program, co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is for women undergoing treatment for cancer. Meeting times vary by location. RSVP is required.

All breast cancer survivors are invited to join our FREE support group. Bring yourself, a buddy or your dog. Walks occur weekly on Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., May through September 2017.
You’ve just persevered through one of the most difficult things you will experience in life — cancer treatment. Now what? Emotions still run high, and you may be dealing with issues because of the treatment. This quarterly support group allows members to share their feelings while also hearing from experts regarding important aspects of life after treatment. Stewart's Caring Place is a non-profit organization that works to enhance the quality of life for those living with cancer. Stewart’s Caring Place is a cancer wellness and educational resource center for individuals and families touched by cancer, offering a wide range of services free of charge.
