Our team’s goal is to provide the comfort, convenience and peace of mind you expect from one of the region’s best places to give birth. With 24/7 house physician and anesthesia coverage, we’re ready to provide the support you need when you need it. Our maternity unit features 17 labor and delivery rooms in our patient tower along with 36 private suites for recovery.
Our Akron Campus maternity services have earned several prestigious awards, including being named an Anthem Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care, for our commitment to quality care, mothers, newborns and their families.Virtual Tours
Our rooms feature:
- Private mother/baby rooms
- Ceramic-tiled showers (in suite)
- Hydrotherapy tubs (in unit)
- Convertible chair/sofa/bed (in suite)
- Gourmet dining (order from on-site restaurant)
We currently offer the following birthing options:
- Midwifery
- Low-risk birthing room with little medical intervention
- Level IV perinatal center for high-risk pregnancies
- Maternal-fetal diagnostic center
- Neonatal ICU staffed by Akron Children’s Hospital neonatologists and nurses
- Birthing balls
- Hydrotherapy
- Kangaroo care (skin-to-skin contact of mother/baby)
- On-site lactation specialist support
- Rooming in with your baby, unless there is a medical need for nursery care
Support services offered at the Center include:
- Childbirth and baby care education
- Infant and child first aid/CPR course
- Doula referral service (for first-time parents or multiple births)
- Breastfeeding support
- Support groups, including for breastfeeding mothers
