Sensory Mats

Volunteer to Sew a Mat For Use By Patients At Summa Health

Sensory mats are designed to safely stimulate and soothe people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, head trauma, or persons recovering from strokes. A step-by-step sewing guide and some supplies – fabric, quilt batting, snap fasteners, parachute clips, etc. – are available.

If you would like to participate or request supplies, please contact Volunteer Services at 330.375.3247 or volunteer@summahealth.org.

All donated masks will be both inspected and cleaned by Summa Health before usage.

How to Donate:

Drop off mats at the main entrance of Summa Health System – Akron Campus or Barberton Campus.

  • Akron Campus: 141 N Forge St, Akron OH 44304
    Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Barberton Campus: 155 5th Street NE, Barberton OH 44203
    Tuesday, Thursday or Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
