Research & Clinical Trials

Summa Health is committed to high quality cancer care and offers patients access to cutting edge cancer therapies through a wide-range of clinical trials. Clinical trials are research studies that require patient participation. Clinical trials, also called research studies, test new treatments in people with cancer. The goal of this research is to find better ways to treat cancer patients. Clinical trials test many types of treatment such as new drugs, new approaches to surgery or radiation therapy, or new combinations of treatments.

These studies can expand treatment options by providing access to the most promising therapies and advanced technologies. In fact, today's standard treatments were made possible because of knowledge gained from past clinical trials.

At Summa Health, we work to create an environment focused on patient-centered care. The decision to participate in a clinical trial is always up to you. Many patients often choose to receive their first treatment in a clinical trial.

Our cancer specialists serve on committees for the National Cancer Institute, allowing Summa to offer groundbreaking treatments, even before they become standard. Summa has earned prestigious national accreditation and recognition from numerous national organizations, including American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Radiology (ACR), among others.
