Clinical trials are research studies that require patient participation. Clinical trials, also called research studies, test new treatments in people with cancer. The goal of this research is to find better ways to treat cancer patients. Clinical trials test many types of treatment such as new drugs, new approaches to surgery or radiation therapy, or new combinations of treatments. 

These studies can expand treatment options by providing access to the most promising therapies and advanced technologies. In fact, today's standard treatments were made possible because of knowledge gained from past clinical trials.
