General Psychiatry

Summa Health's Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program provides group-based treatment to those with a wide range of mental health issues. Patients discharged from inpatient care will benefit from this program, as well as patients who do not require hospitalization but need more psychiatric care than weekly outpatient programs can provide. Available days or evenings, the program runs three or four days a week, three hours a day, for an average of 16 to 20 sessions. It is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians and clinical counselors.

We treat both primary psychiatric patients as well as those with a dual diagnosis, such as substance abuse disorder and related psychiatric problems. Participants are typically dealing with mood disorders (including major depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders, relationship problems and/or a combination of mental health and substance abuse problems. The program includes a weekly, mandatory family program.
