Many behavioral health issues can be treated without hospitalization through outpatient programs and therapies. Summa Health provides diverse treatment options for mental health conditions in outpatient settings.

Counseling & Outpatient Psychiatry

Summa’s psychiatrists and psychologists provide medication management, ongoing individual counseling, group therapy and other mental health services.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Summa Health‘s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a step below inpatient hospitalization and can be used as an alternative to inpatient treatment.

Intensive Outpatient Programs

Summa offers several Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) for a variety of needs. We offer IOPs in the areas of general psychiatry, substance abuse treatment and the treatment of post traumatic stress.

Traumatic Stress Center

The Traumatic Stress Center at Summa Health is dedicated to the treatment and investigation of traumatic stress and its consequences.

Vivitrol® Clinic

The Summa Health Vivitrol® Clinic combines Vivitrol with counseling to help patients with an opioid dependence.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Treatment

For patients with major depressive disorder who have not achieved remission through typical treatment methods, Summa Health Behavioral Health Institute provides Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

For patients with major depressive disorder who have not achieved remission through typical treatment methods, Summa Health Behavioral Health Institute provides Spravato™.

First Step Addiction Treatment Program

The First Step addiction program initiates addiction treatment right in the ED – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Psychiatric Evaluations and Referrals

Summa Health's mental health assessment and psychiatric referral services can provide a rapid psychiatric evaluation and consultation with one of our clinical staff and if necessary, a staff psychiatrist.
