Orthopedic Services

Our orthopedic specialists provide services for total joint replacement, hand, elbow and shoulder, sports medicine and more. Whether your injury is recent or has been getting worse over time, Summa's orthopedic specialists will provide you with treatment options, including the latest nonsurgical and surgical approaches.

Total Joint Replacement

Summa Health's board-certified specialists provide extensive, customized treatment options, including nonsurgical and surgical approaches, to total joint patients. We follow best practice guidelines using conservative management and recommend noninvasive first-line treatments.

Hand

Our orthopedic specialists treat common conditions of the hand such as carpal tunnel and trigger finger and offer wide-awake local anesthesia for many outpatient surgeries. Both nonsurgical and surgical treatment options are available.

Elbow and Shoulder

Summa Health provides both nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for all upper extremity conditions from the fingertip to the shoulder. Many upper extremity injuries can be treated nonsurgically with therapy, injections, and splinting.

Sports Medicine

Our primary care sports medicine physicians have extensive experience caring for children, adolescents and adults. They care for athletes and non-athletes, helping them recover from injuries.

Foot and Ankle

Although mild foot and ankle pain often responds well to home treatments, it can take time to resolve. The orthopedic specialists at Summa Health treat patients of all ages for foot and ankle conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, and tendon tears.

Spine

The Summa Health Orthopedic Institute can treat many painful, yet common spinal conditions, including neck and back pain, herniated discs, and spinal trauma. During your consultation, all options will be explored and tailored individually to you.

Orthopedic Oncology

Summa Health Orthopedic Institute has one of only seven orthopedic oncologists practicing in the state of Ohio. As one of the few orthopedic oncologists in the state, Scott D. Weiner, M.D., sees patients from an area that encompasses northern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.

Trauma

Summa Health Orthopedic Institute has the expertise to handle the most complex trauma cases, from fractured femurs to conditions that include multiple injuries to all extremities. Our orthopedic surgeons handle the most complex traumatic fractures through the Level 1 Trauma Center and provide comprehensive care for any traumatic injury.
