Bio	Todd Gilbert, MD completed his Bachelor of Science in zoology and accounting at Weber State University and received his Doctor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He finished his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska and completed his orthopedic spine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He specializes in orthopedic surgery and spine surgery. Dr. Gilbert chose a career in medicine to serve others and work in a challenging and rewarding environment. He is fascinated with spine surgery and believes the spine is the foundation and anchor of the entire musculoskeletal system. Dr. Gilbert enjoys treating a variety of patients from children to the elderly and professional athletes to the weekend warriors. He loves the complexity of orthopedic cases and is dedicated to providing personalized treatment to every patient in his care. Dr. Gilbert has experience in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgery; spinal trauma, tumors, and deformity surgery; minimally invasive spine surgery and microsurgical decompression; and both fusion and non-fusion technologies. When he is not with patients, Dr. Gilbert enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors. He loves mountain biking, skiing, climbing, and boating.

I had an appointment with Dr. Gilbert a week ago. I must admit that I walked into his office very cynical and completely prepared for a less than good experience. That attitude was coming from seeing two other Neurosurgeons within the previous 6 weeks..I am so appreciate of his time, and his truthfulness. Did I get the news that I wanted to hear? Absolutely not!! However what I did get was his knowledge, his experience, and most of all his truthful opinion about my options when it came to dealing with my medical situation. There was no meeting with his Nurse practitioner who took down the notes of my issues, who then told me I needed surgery. The NP. then told me that he would discuss it with the Dr. and call me to sit up the surgery date...No return call, no anything other than leaving me hanging...Which made me feel like less of human being.. Dr. Gilbert was completely thorough, completely truthful and very professional. I appreciate him as a person and as a Doctor..

Dr Gilbert was very warm and friendly and listened carefully to my concerns about back surgery with compassion and understanding. He answered the list of questions I had brought with me in detail and with patience. He covered all the options snd advised me he didn’t think surgery was necessary for a year or two- until the injections i received from Dr College stop working. Best before I turn 80. His recommendation were enlightening and understandable. I left feeling informed and encouraged and clear on the consequences of back surgery and the recuperation time required. I was pleased and reassure by his frank and open approach. I will be very comfortable having him do surgery when the time comes.
