Bio	Collin Barber, MD received his Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology from the University of Utah and completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Arizona. He finished his medical residency and surgical fellowship at the University of Arizona and the Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan, respectively. He specializes in foot and ankle surgery and speaks fluent Spanish. Dr. Barber was born with a serious condition that required surgery to correct. He owes his life to the quick thinking and professional skills of the doctors who acted quickly during his procedure. Seeing the care and attention of these skilled doctors instilled a desire to help others in the same way these doctors helped him. He decided to pursue orthopedic surgery because it requires an acute understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, physics, and engineering. Especially in foot and ankle surgery, there are many possible treatments for one condition. Dr. Barber enjoys the innovation and creativity required to adapt traditional techniques and find a solution that meets his patients’ treatment goals. He believes that outcomes are optimized when the physician and patient engage in shared decision making. When he is out of the office, Dr. Barber loves swimming, cycling, basketball, cooking, and woodworking.

He was attentive and thorough

Dr. Barber corrected a problem I had been dealing with for over a decade. He was attentive and thorough prior to surgery, ensuring that he had as much information as possible and going through potential scenarios with me. The surgery went incredibly well, in spite of worse deterioration discovered on the operating table that required more intensive repair than expected. Following Dr. Barber's instructions, I had a perfect recovery without any complications. A family member had the same surgery shortly before I did, with a different doctor, and our experiences were markedly different. My scar even looks prettier (not my opinion alone; my massage therapist raves about what an artist Dr. Barber must be, because she's so impressed with how well the scar follows the contour of the muscles and ligaments so that it enhances muscle definition instead of looking like a scar). I had assumed that I would live with constant pain and restricted mobility. It is so exciting to be pain-free and rediscovering all the things I can do now. Definitely a member of the Dr. Collin Barber fan club for life :)
