Jessica Hudson begins new role as Summa Foundation president

On October 9, Jessica Hudson began in her new role as president of Summa Foundation and chief development officer at Summa Health. 

Jessica joined Summa Health in 2013 and has served in a variety of roles since coming to the organization, most recently as system director of development. She has been instrumental in the success and growth of the Foundation, including surpassing its initial goal of $100 million for the comprehensive campaign, “Caring for You … Then, Now, Always” and securing several multimillion dollar gifts.

Her other accomplishments include growing relationships across the community, developing and leading others and serving as a member of the Foundation’s senior leadership team. As president, she is responsible for leading the strategic direction and operations of the Foundation and continuing the outstanding momentum the Foundation has experienced during the past several years.

She replaced Phylis Ferrara, who announced in March her plans to retire. Phylis has moved into the role of senior advisor to the Foundation through the end of the year. 

Before joining Summa Health, Jessica spent five years at Kent State University (KSU), where she was responsible for fundraising and building relationships across all areas of the university. She is a CFRE International certified fundraising executive and has earned a bachelor’s degree in English, as well as master’s degrees in library and information science and business administration from KSU.
