Plans are for the tower’s front door to be open for business on May 28, 2019. Specific clinical services and departments are moving into the respective areas this spring and have varying opening times.
Yes! In fact, plans are well under way for our big community event in May. On Sunday, May 19, the general public and communities we serve are invited to an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a ribbon-cutting, tours, fun activities for the kids, giveaways and refreshments.
We expect thousands to attend this celebration, and we will proudly show off our new seven-story hospital to all in attendance that day.

Our Adolph parking deck is closest to the tower and offers ample parking. It is attached to the new patient tower via a bridge. Valet parking also is available at the main entrance of the new tower.
At this point, there is no formal name attached to the exterior new patient tower, though several specific areas, such as the Center for Breast Health, are being named after those individuals who have so generously supported Summa Health and, in particular, this facility’s construction.
The new front door is located at 141 Forge Street with the driveway to the main entrance adjacent to the Emergency Department. Valet services will be located at the entrance for your convenience.
Please note, too, that although the “new front door” to Summa Akron Campus is located off Forge Street, the mailing address for the hospital remains 525 East Market Street.
Besides calling your doctor’s office for specific directions, Summa Health is proud to offer its new Way Finder system, a navigation app that will guide you with turn-by-turn walking directions to a specific office once you’re on our campus. For non-smartphone users, there are 10 digital kiosks located throughout the Akron Campus that will give you printed directions to anywhere on our 1.2 million square-foot campus.
As mentioned above, our new Way Finder system offers you virtually step-by-step directions around the entire Summa Akron Campus. The system is app-based but also offers digital kiosks for printing directions, as well as a web-based platform that you can access here.
Medical appointments dated May 28, 2019, or later will be handled as they have in the past. Your planned appointment date and time will not change, but please call your doctor’s office prior to the date of your appointment to confirm whether the location for your visit to Summa Health has changed.
