Education and Training

Providing comprehensive opportunities for employee education and training on aspects of diversity and inclusion is a critical component of Summa Health’s strategy. We have developed organizational education curricula promoting both general awareness and culturally competent care.

From their first day in new employee orientation, all Summa Health employees receive regular instruction on diversity and inclusion designed to build knowledge and understanding, while providing opportunities for dialogue.

Additionally, our culturally competent care education assists all employees in their daily interactions with patients, internal and external customers, and coworkers. These efforts focus on the Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and addressing health disparities in the communities we serve.

Through these combined efforts, numerous internal and external opportunities have been developed and offered, including webinars, web-based educational tools, conference and course participation and Summa Health hosted health disparities continuing medical education (CME) events.
