Cancer Care

More than 1.8 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2020, according to the American Cancer Society. Many diagnoses come with little warning. Hearing that you, or a loved one, has cancer can be devastating news. Many questions come to mind, everything from, Is my cancer treatable? to When should I tell my family? to How will I pay for treatment?

It’s normal to have a multitude of questions and to not know where to seek answers. The cancer experts at the Summa Health Cancer Institute have treated thousands of patients and helped them navigate the difficult journey from diagnosis, through treatment and survivorship. We partner with our patients to treat the person along with the cancer. We listen to your concerns and use simple language to explain your options. We work with you to develop a personalized plan that works for the patient and provides the best possible outcome.

At the Summa Health Cancer Institute, we treat more than 100 types of cancer. That means we have expertise in the most common types— such as lung, breast and prostate— to the more uncommon types, such as bone, bladder or esophageal. For a list of the types of cancer we treat, click here.

The real challenge of cancer is to live as best as one can for as long as one can. The strength one must have to face the unknown every day; the courage one must muster each time they enter a doctor’s office, wait for test results, or receive treatment; and the vulnerability they must endure throughout the cancer journey regardless of the outcome defines the experience.

We are proud to be a part of our patients’ journeys and to offer them hope. We will continue to fight alongside our patients to cure cancer, if possible while improving our patients’ quality of life.
