Awards and Recognition

We are proud to receive recognition for our continued diversity efforts as we focus on the eight areas outlined in our Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan. Our national and community recognition affirms our commitment to diversity and inclusion in everything we do. Our recognitions include:

  • Commission 50: Summa Health was recognized by the Commission on Economic Inclusion as one of the top 50 organizations participating in its annual survey for continuous progress in creating, enhancing and sustaining diversity and inclusion Strategies.
  • The Pinnacle Award: Summa Health received the inaugural Summit County Pinnacle Award, Public Sector Nonprofit Agency. The award honors individuals and organizations who are serving the greater good and practicing corporate social responsibility.
  • Leader Healthcare Equality Index: The Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT equality, recognized Summa Health as one of the healthcare providers doing the best to promote LGBT healthcare equality in Ohio.
  • AHA Regional Corporate Leadership Award:  The American Heart Association recognized Summa Health for its community outreach in promoting heart disease and stroke prevention efforts in African American communities throughout the region.
  • NAACP Freedom Fund: The Akron branch of the NAACP has recognized Summa for its support of the organization’s mission and ideals.
  • NorthCoast 99: In addition to being named a Best Place to work since 2004, Summa Health has also been recognized for Corporate Social Responsibility.
