5th Annual Akron Obesity Awareness Forum

Please join us for the 5th Annual Akron Obesity Awareness Forum on Friday, November 18, 2022. This event is an annual collaboration between the Department of Surgery, Graduate Medical Education and the Weight Management Institute.

This year's forum will feature Dr. Teresa LaMasters, President of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and Dr. James “Butch” Rosser, a prolific minimally invasive surgery pioneer and member of the board of directors of the Society of American Gastro Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). 

The goal of this year’s edition is to review the scientific evidence and data around the epidemiology, medical treatment, surgical treatment, healthcare disparities and stigma that surround the disease of obesity.
