This organization reviews and accredits Summa Health System Hospitals (Summa Health System – Akron, St. Thomas and Barberton Campuses).
The Joint Commission has a longstanding commitment to providing meaningful information about the comparative performance of accredited organizations to the public. This commitment is fulfilled through the provision of organization-specific Quality Reports on Quality Check.
American Osteopathic Association
This organization reviews and accredits Summa Western Reserve Hospital.
The American Osteopathic Association's Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) has been providing medical facilities with an objective review of their services since 1945. The program, which has also been accrediting healthcare facilities for more than 30 years under Medicare, is recognized nationally by the federal government, state governments, insurance carriers and managed care organizations.
The program originally began as a way to assure that osteopathic students received their training in facilities providing a high quality of patient care. It is a cost effective, user-friendly means to validate the quality of care provided by a facility.
American College of Surgeons

The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.
